What it checks What it checks

ΔStory drift

SBC 301 limits with seismic cases amplified by Cd/Ie, plus a serviceability limit for wind.

%Mass participation

Checks that modes reach 90% and warns you if the first mode is torsional.

▮Column-by-column report

D/C ratio and the 1% to 8% reinforcement limits, with the fix: dimensions or bars, plus confinement ties.

━Beam-by-beam report

Flexure, shear, Vs,max and minimum depth L/18.5, with suggested bars and stirrups.

﷼Cost optimization

Oversized elements and the approximate savings in m³ and SAR.

AArabic & English

Every note in Arabic and English, plus a glossary of key structural terms.

Limits from SBC 301 (allowable story drift table, from ASCE 7) and SBC 304 (based on ACI 318). Seismic cases (EQ, E or SPEC) are amplified by Cd/Ie; wind cases (W) are compared with the wind limit. Prices and rebar rate are estimates, adjust them to your market.

How to export the tables from ETABS How to export the tables

  1. Run the analysis and designClick Run Analysis (F5), then Design → Concrete Frame Design → Start Design/Check. Without the design, the column and beam tables won’t be available.
  2. Open the export windowFile → Export → ETABS Tables to Excel
  3. Select the tables belowTick them in the tables tree. Under Load Patterns/Cases select all load cases and combinations.
  4. Export and uploadSave the Excel file and upload it above. If you exported each table to its own file, that’s fine: upload them all at once.

Glossary Glossary

Bending momentBending MomentHow much the element tends to bend under load; largest at beam mid-span and at supports.
Shear forceShear ForceForce that tries to cut the element across its section; largest near supports and resisted by stirrups.
Axial forceAxial ForceCompression or tension along the member axis; most important in columns.
TorsionTorsionMoment that twists the member about its axis, e.g. an edge beam carrying a slab on one side.
DeflectionDeflectionHow far a member moves down under load, checked against limits such as L/240.
CreepCreepConcrete deformation that grows over time under sustained load, increasing long-term deflection.
ShrinkageShrinkageVolume loss as concrete dries; causes cracking without enough reinforcement.
Story driftStory DriftLateral displacement difference between two floors divided by the story height.
DisplacementDisplacementHow far a point moves from its original position under load.
Mode shape / periodMode Shape / PeriodHow the building vibrates and the time it takes for one full cycle.
Mass participationMass ParticipationShare of building mass captured by the modes; must reach 90% or more.
Base shearBase ShearTotal lateral force (seismic or wind) at the foundation level.
Base reactionsBase ReactionsForces transferred from the building to the foundations.
Dead load (DL)Dead Load (DL)Self-weight of the structural elements.
Superimposed dead load (SDL)Superimposed Dead Load (SDL)Finishes, tiles, partitions and services.
Live load (LL)Live Load (LL)People and furniture; values from SBC 301 by occupancy.
Load combinationLoad CombinationLoads added with factors, e.g. 1.2D + 1.6L.
D/C ratioD/C RatioDemand on the element divided by its capacity; above 1 means it fails.
Reinforcement ratio (ρ)Reinforcement Ratio (ρ)Steel area divided by the gross section area.
Stirrups / tiesStirrups / TiesTransverse bars that resist shear and confine the main bars.
Concrete coverCoverDistance from the concrete surface to the nearest bar; protects steel from corrosion and fire.
Compression / tensionCompression / TensionConcrete is strong in compression and weak in tension; the steel carries the tension.
StiffnessStiffnessResistance to deformation; the higher it is, the lower the deflection and drift.
Moment of inertia (I)Moment of Inertia (I)Section property that sets its stiffness; depth affects it far more than width.
Cracked section modifiersCracked Section ModifiersStiffness reductions in the analysis, e.g. 0.35 for beams and 0.7 for columns.
DiaphragmDiaphragmThe slab that distributes lateral forces to columns and walls.
Shear wallShear WallRC wall that resists lateral forces and reduces drift.
CantileverCantileverA member fixed at one end and free at the other.
SpanSpanDistance between two supports.
Punching shearPunching ShearA column punching through a slab or footing; the key check for flat slabs.
Footing / raftFooting / RaftAn isolated footing under one column, or a single foundation under the whole building.
Bearing capacityBearing CapacityMaximum pressure the soil can take under a foundation.
SettlementSettlementDownward movement of a foundation as the soil compresses.
Response modification RResponse Modification RReduces seismic forces according to the ductility of the structural system.
Deflection amplification CdDeflection Amplification CdAmplifies computed displacements to approximate the real ones during an earthquake.
Importance factor IeImportance Factor IeIncreases loads for essential buildings such as hospitals.
P-Delta effectP-DeltaExtra moments when gravity load moves with lateral displacement.
DuctilityDuctilityAbility to deform a lot before failing; required for seismic design.
